Lundy Junior Elswick's Obituary
Mr. Lundy Junior Elswick, age 81, of East 10th Street, died Tuesday, December 1, 2009 at his home. He had been seriously ill for the past three weeks.
Funeral services for Mr. Elswick will be conducted in Lady's Funeral Home Chapel, Sunday at 2:00 pm. The Rev. David Shoemake will officiate. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2:00 pm Sunday prior to the service. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park.
A son of Allie Mae and Issac Boyd, he was born in Willis Virginia on February 3, 1928. He retired from the Kannapolis City Schools where he worked in maintenance at Shady Brook Elementary School.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Hazel Morgan Elswick who died in August 2004; a sister, Dorothy Lackey and a brother, David Lee Thomas.
Survivors include two sisters, Mildred Galloway of Rosman, NC, Ellen Henry of Polkton, NC; several nieces and nephews, Carolyn Goodnight Hudson who lived at the home and was his care giver, Pam Brown and husband Neil of China Grove, Sherry Kendall and husband Larry of Monroe, Debbie Shelton of Peachland, NC, Linda McDougall of Peachland and George Shelton and wife, Maria of Norwood, and a special friend, Hilda Ledwell.
