Mabel Munday Allen's Obituary
Mrs. Mabel Munday Allen, 91, a resident of Best of Care, and formerly of East 11th Street, Kannapolis, died Tuesday, October 8, 2002, at Best of Care, following one year of declining health and three days serious illness.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 PM Friday, October 11, 2002, at North Kannapolis Baptist Church. The Rev. David Myers and the Rev. Coy Privette will officiate. Interment will follow at Carolina Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8:00 PM Thursday at the funeral home. At other times they will be at the home of a son, Joe R. Allen, 4670 Highway 152 West, China Grove.
Born May 1, 1911, in Iredell County, she was a daughter of the late Earl Edgar Munday and Frances Jenkins Munday. She retired several years ago from the sheet department of Cannon Mills where she was employed for over 50 years. Mrs. Allen was a member of North Kannapolis Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School for many years.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Raymond "Kakie" Allen.
Survivors include three sons, Bobby C. Allen and his wife, Edna, of Fallston, Thomas R. Allen and his wife, Bonnie, of Hillsborough, Joe R. Allen and his wife, Shirley, of China Grove; one daughter, Kara A. Barnhardt and her husband, Ralph, of Plantation, FL; two sisters, Retha M. Thomas of Mt. Holly, Frances M. Wooten of Mocksville; one brother, John Munday of Statesville; nine grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
