Maggie Linker Keener's Obituary
Mrs. Maggie Linker Keener, 82, passed away Monday, August 22, 2011, at Carolinas Medical Center-NorthEast in Concord.
A funeral service is scheduled for 11:00 am Thursday, August 25, 2011, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Bishop Robert Morgann, MD will officiate. Entombment will follow at Carolina Memorial Park Mausoleum in Kannapolis.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8:00 pm Wednesday at Lady's Funeral Home.
Mrs. Keener was born February 26, 1929 in Concord. She was a daughter of the late Norman Harley "Hod" Linker and Annie Bell Carter Linker. She worked for Cannon Mills in the towel department.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by son, Roger Keener; two sisters, Lucille Linker Bost and Marie Linker Gordon and four brothers, James, Ace, Sam and Bud Linker.
Mrs. Keener is survived by her husband of 63 years, Sherwood Keener; two daughters, Kay Keener Smith and husband, Butch, Gail Keener Croom both of Kannapolis; two sons, Gene Downum and wife, Sarah of Charlotte and Rex Keener and wife, Patti of Salisbury; brother, Coy Linker of Kannapolis; eight grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren.
The family requests that memorials may be donated to Hospice and Palliative Care of Cabarrus County, 5003 Hospice Lane, Kannapolis, NC 28081 or to the Missionary Fund of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 153 Corban Avenue, SE, Concord, NC, 28025 in memory of Mrs. Keener.
