Marion Mcconnell Nickelson's Obituary
Marion Groce McConnell Nickelson, 79, a resident of Transitional Health Services and formerly of Oakwood Avenue, Kannapolis, died Saturday, July 8, 2006, at NorthEast Medical Center.
A graveside service with interment to follow will be conducted at 1 p.m. Monday, July 10, 2006, at Carolina Memorial Park. The Rev. Jamie Hunt will officiate.
The family will be at the home of a daughter, Kathi Strader, 1435 Sherwood Drive, Kannapolis.
Born May 31, 1927, in Yadkin County, she was the daughter of the late Harvey Groce and Naomi Underwood Groce. She had lived in this area since 1946 and retired from the K&W Cafeteria in Kannapolis. She was a member of Coddle Creek ARP Church.
She was preceded in death by two husbands, Felix Reid McConnell, Jr., who died in 1968 and Charles J. Nickelson, who died in 1992.
Survivors include two daughters, Becki Barnhardt and husband Tony and Kathi Strader and husband Rick, both of Kannapolis; two sons, F. Reid McConnell III and Carl Nickelson and wife Annette, both of Kannapolis; one brother, Don Groce and wife Helen of Greensboro; nine grandchildren, Suzan Senerchia and husband Jay of Rougemont, Andy Barnhardt of Kannapolis, Tammy Greene of Mt. Pleasant, Donna Tucker and husband Rodney of Mooresville, Justin Nickelson, Zachary Nickelson, Whitney Nickelson, Ricky Strader and wife Pam, all of Kannapolis, and Sabrina Wallin and husband Kevin of Mooresville; seven great-grandchildren, Caleb Greene of Concord, David Senerchia of Rougemont, Garrett Tucker of Mooresville, Joshua Wallin of Mooresville, Casey Greene of Mt. Pleasant, Rachel Strader of Kannapolis and Britney Wallin of Mooresville.
