Mary Frances English's Obituary
Mary Frances English, 90, of Charlotte went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, April 25, 2012.
Mrs. English was born on July 21, 1921 in South Pittsburgh, TN. She was the daughter of the late Lucien and Margaret Grace Wood. Mrs. English was a member of Hickory Grove Baptist Church. She was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served during World War II as a Sergeant stationed in France and England. She was a secretary to General Frannie. After World War II, she served a the Pentagon and was honorable discharged by General Omar Bradley on October 19, 1945 and was a recipient of the Good Conduct Medal, Women's Auxiliary Army Corps Service Medal, European-African-Middle Eastern Theatre (EAMET) Campaign Medal with Bronze Star, and a Bronze Star Medal.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by husband, Judson Sturgis English in 1997.
Survivors include her son, Judson Brown English and wife, Emily and daughter, Jenny Butler and husband, Tom, all of Charlotte; five grandchildren, Mary Kelley Bustin and Annie Barnette, David and Richard Melson and Lee David English; ten great grandchilden, Christopher, William, Leah Beth and Landon Loukos, Erika Palmer, Hannah, Judson, Grayson and Samantha Melson and Josiah Barnette.
A graveside service with Military Honors is scheduled for 1:00 pm Monday, April 30, 2012, at Evergreen Cemetery in Charlotte. Rev. Arnold Kessler will officiate.
