Mary Alice Hodge Fortson's Obituary
Mrs. Mary Alice Leazer Hodge Fortson, 84, passed away Sunday, October 20, 2013, at the Lutheran Home at Trinity Oaks in Salisbury.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm Wednesday, October 23, 2013 at First Wesleyan Church. Rev. Edwin Chriscoe will officiate. Interment will follow at Carolina Memorial Park in Kannapolis.
The family will receive friends from 12:30 to 1:45 pm Wednesday at First Wesleyan Church prior to the service.
Mrs. Fortson was born on May 18, 1929 in Rowan County. She was a daughter of the late Samuel Leazer and Grace Eldora Allman Leazer. She was a member of First Wesleyan Church. Mary Alice loved her church and attended as long as her health permitted.
Mary Alice enjoyed crocheting, playing bingo and shopping. She loved her entire family especially her grandson, Chris. She was fond of all animals, especially dogs.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her first husband, James David Hodge and second husband, Bethune Fortson.
Mrs. Fortson is survived by her daughter, Janice Norcutt and husband Kenny of China Grove; sister, Joann Underwood of Mooresville; grandson, Christopher Sides; and canine companions, Tipper, Sunshine and Deacon.
The family wishes to thank the entire staff of Trinity Oaks for the care and support given to Mary Alice.
