Mary Alexander Puntch's Obituary
Mary "Merley" Alexander Puntch, 85, of Virginia Street, Kannapolis, passed away Monday, April 12, 2010, at her home, following several months of declining health.
Born November 5, 1924 in Cabarrus County, she was the daughter of the late David D. Alexander and Minnie Mae Spry Alexander. She was a 1941 graduate of J.W. Cannon High School and worked as a timekeeper at the former Cannon Mills. She later worked with her husband at Eastwood Pharmacy and also at Shadybrook Elementary School in the Title 1 program. She was a longtime member of Trinity United Methodist Church and the Kannapolis Pilot Club.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Harold Bryant Puntch; and a sister, Gladie Mae Alexander McDaniel.
A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 14, 2010, at Carolina Memorial Park. The Rev. Judy White and the Rev. Dr. Harold Bales will officiate. The family will greet friends at the cemetery following the service.
Survivors include her brother, David D. Alexander, Jr. of Newport News, VA; two nephews David D. Alexander III of Kilmarnock, VA; Keith McDaniel and wife Georganne and son, Brandon, of Southern Pines; and three sisters-in-law, Mavoureen (Susie) Jamison, Edith Boger and Betty Moore and husband, Carl, all of Kannapolis.
The family gives special thanks to her caregivers, Mary Ruth Hartsell, Angela Trull, Brenda Kee, Dawn Shepherd, Angie Keller and Wanda Moss, and special friends, Todd Parris, Tabitha Smyly and all the caregivers with Hospice and Palliative Care of Cabarrus County, for their love and care for 'Miss Merley'.
