Mary Frances Tennent's Obituary
Mrs. Mary Frances Stiff Tennent, 91, passed away Tuesday, January 8, 2013 at Gaston Memorial Hospital.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm Saturday, January 12, 2013 at Lady's Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Ann Vinson will officiate. Interment will follow at Carolina Memorial Park in Kannapolis.
The family will receive friends from 11:00 am to 12:30 pm Saturday at Lady's Funeral Home prior to the service.
Mrs. Tennent was born on June 12, 1921 in Tallapoosa County, AL. She was a daughter of the late Rev. Eugene Stiff and Mary Agnes Lancaster Stiff. She was educated in the Cabarrus County School System. Mary Frances grew up in the depression and as a child picked cotton in Virgina. She loved to read and have a good cup of coffee and as a child enjoyed her travels all over the country with her family. She retired as a hemmer from Cannon Mills. She was a member of Centerview Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Walter Neal Fryer, Jr.; second husband James Tennent, Sr.; daughter, Joyce Ann Livengood; two brothers, Russell Stiff and Paul Whitley; and step-mother, Mary Brumley Stiff.
Mrs. Tennent is survived by her three daughters, Jeanette Fryer of Gastonia, Mary Agnes Ross and husband Bill of Duluth, GA and Lisa Diane Baildon and husband Jerry of Raleigh; son, Larry Michael Fryer of Hawaii; two brothers, Gene Stiff of Rock Hill, SC and Earl Stiff of Tenn.; twelve grandchildren and many great grandchildren.
