Mary Eloise Christy Watts' Obituary
Mrs. Mary Eloise Christy Watts, 81, of 8916 Mooresville Road, died Wednesday September 12, 2007 at her home with her husband and children by her side.
Funeral services for Mrs. Watts will be conducted at North Kannapolis Baptist Church at 2:00 p.m. Saturday. The Rev. David Prather will officiate. The body will lie in-state in the church for one half prior to the service. Burial will follow in Carolina Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends at Lady's Funeral Home from 6 until 8 p.m. Friday.
Mrs. Watts was born in Kannapolis on July 12, 1926, a daughter of the late Joe P. Christy and Daphne McLain Christy. She has been a member of North Kannapolis Baptist Church for her entire life and formerly worked in the washcloth department of Cannon Mills and at Motor Mower. She was also a past member of the Kannoneers Square Dance Club.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a granddaughter Kelly Watts, and two brothers, Charles Christy and Floyd "Buck " Christy.
Survivors include her husband of 64 years, Lester J. Watts, whom she met in 1942 and married on October 11, 1943. She has a daughter, Bonnie W. Goodnight and husband, Bill, and a son, Bill E. Watts and wife, Delores, all of Kannapolis; two grandchildren, April Beach and Debra Dandro; two step-grandchildren, Angie Price and Ginger Collins; three great-grandchildren, Blake Beach, Bradley Beach and Miranda Beach; two step-great-grandchildren, Jacob Price and Nathan Collins; and a sister, Marcella Elder of China Grove.
