Michael Steven Turner's Obituary
Mr. Michael “Mike” Steven Turner, 56, passed away Thursday, June 19, 2014, at his residence.
A funeral service will be held at 12:30 pm Monday, June 23, 2014, at Lady’s Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Jimmy Barrett will officiate. Interment will follow at Carolina Memorial Park in Kannapolis.
The family will receive friends from 11 to 12:15 pm Monday prior to the service at Lady’s Funeral Home.
Mr. Turner was born on January 20, 1958 in Cumberland County. He was a son of Edna Lee Gulledge Turner of Concord and the late Enouch “Pete” Turner. He attended Northwest Cabarrus High School. He worked as a metal fabricator for PRO-FABrication, Inc. He was a member of Poplar Grove Baptist Church in Concord.
Mike first and foremost loved his children and enjoyed racing with them. He also enjoyed going on cruises and loved buying and accessorizing his Camaro. His grandchildren were the apples of his eyes. He always loved helping others in racing, but would never share his racing setups.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his son, Joshua Adam Turner (Lindsey) of Concord; daughter, Kayla Kathleen Turner (Jacob) of Kannapolis; two granddaughters, Leila Ann Turner and Leah Aubrey Smith; sister, Pamela “Pam” T. Lindley (John E.) of Kannapolis; niece, Crystal McKenzie (Matt); two nephews, John Todd Lindley (Kate) and Tony Lindley (Jill); great nephew, Liam McKenzie; and former wife, Janice Edgison Turner of Kannapolis.
Memorials may be made to Poplar Grove Baptist Church, 3476 Poplar Tent Road, Concord, NC 28027.
The family has requested that casual attire be worn for the services to honor Mike.
