Mildred Cruse Mitchell's Obituary
Mildred Louise Cruse Mitchell, passed away peacefully on Saturday morning, July 15, 2006.
The family will receive friends at Lady's Funeral Home on Tuesday, July 18, 2006, from 9:30-10:15 am. Services will follow at 10:30 am in the funeral home chapel. Dr. Tom Cabaniss will officiate. Interment will follow at Carolina Memorial Park.
Mildred was born October 12, 1910. She was the daughter of the late William Malcolm Cruse and Lola Fink Cruse of Cabarrus County.
She was preceded in death by all of her siblings listed oldest to youngest: Nellie Beck, Carl Cruse, Lester Cruse, Bill Cruse, Ruby Shoaf, Lucille Frye, Edd Cruse, Roy Cruse, Bonnie Ratay and Gene Cruse.
Mildred married the late George Cornelius Mitchell in 1933. George died in 1955. Their only child Laurna Dell Mitchell Stephens, passed away in 1996 at the age of 55.
Mildred joined First Baptist Church in 1933 and attended until she was unable to get there anymore. She loved her church and everything it stands for. She was faithful and very giving of her time. In her younger days, she was active with the Children's Sunday School. She also helped with the Sunday School Teacher Training Union, Deacons and Home bound visitations. She preferred to stay home and be close to her church but at the age of 73, she took a trip to Hawaii with Christian Tours. She was an employee of Fieldcrest Cannon for 65 years. She retired for a short time and was asked to return. She accepted. She was a very strong and dedicated woman.
She is survived by her grandson Blake Stephens III of Charlotte, and her granddaughter, grandson-in-law and great granddaughter, Debbie, Scott and Jennifer Reisterer of Fort Mill, SC. She is also survived by a number of nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to First Baptist Church of Kannapolis for their Harvest of Thanks building fund. (101 North Main Street, Kannapolis, NC 28081).
