Morris Lee Helms' Obituary
Morris Lee Helms, 78, of Kannapolis, North Carolina, and formerly of Marshville, North Carolina, went home to be with our Lord on Sunday, April 10th, 2011. He was the son of W. Riley Helms and Della Austin Helms.
Morris was born on November 15th, 1932, and married his true love, Betty Wright Helms, on October 24th, 1952. He worked in Cannon Mills for 43 years in the order office and once served as an auxiliary police officer for Faith. After retiring, he worked as a security officer for Fieldcrest Cannon at gate two.
Morris is survived by his wife, Betty, to whom he was married for fifty-eight years. He is also survived by his daughter, Cathy Helms and her husband, Wayne, two sons, Randy Helms, Sr., and his wife, Lisa, and Scott Helms and his wife, Debbie. Morris has seven grandchildren; Kevin Helms, Tonya Greene, Beth Cartner, Chris Helms, Keisha Mister, Randy Helms, and Tabitha Powell. Morris has five great-grandchildren, Clayton Cartner, Callie Helms, Tyler Greene, Mckenna Helms, and Matthew Mister.
Morris Helms was a dedicated and faithful husband, loving and kind father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He was happiest when his family and friends came to visit him, and he loved traveling to the mountains, with his last trip being in October, 2010. He has left his family with many wonderful memories of his gentle spirit and loving nature. He loved the Lord and was a faithful member of Royal Oaks Baptist Church.
The family will be receiving family and friends at Lady's Funeral Home in Kannapolis on Wednesday, April 13th, from 7-9 PM. The funeral service will be held at Royal Oaks Baptist Church, also in Kannapolis, at 2:00 PM on Thursday, April 14th.
