Myrtle Norton Brandon's Obituary
Mrs. Myrtle Norton Brandon passed away peacefully Monday, November 30, 2009.
Mrs. Brandon was born in Stony Point, NC on March 18, 1918, a daughter of the late W. Stanley Norton and Cora Burgess Norton. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles William Brandon, Sr. in April 2005 and four sisters and one brother.
Memorial services for Mrs. Brandon will be conducted Friday, December 4, 2009 at the First Presbyterian Church, Concord at 3:00 pm. Dr. Todd Hobbie will officiate. The family will greet friends at the church Friday from 1:30 until 2:45 p.m. prior to the service.
Mrs. Brandon was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church, where she established their kindergarten program in the late 50's.
Myrtle never met an enemy or had an unkind word, except on the bridge table where she was a fierce competitor.
Myrtle is survived by two sons, Charles William Brandon, Jr. and wife Sherry of Concord, and Robert Norton Brandon and wife Gloria of Durham, three granddaughters, Peyton Maynard, Lilly Whorton and Katherine Brandon; six great grand-children, Emma, Mary Grace, Jack and Charlie Maynard and Lindsay and Lucy Whorton; three sisters, Margaret Eckerd of Mocksville, NC, Barbara Gray of York, SC, and Julia Fegley of Annapolis, MD.
The family request memorials for Mrs. Brandon to be directed to the First Presbyterian Church, 70 Union Street, North, Concord, NC 28025.
