Myrtle Whitley Cashion's Obituary
Mrs. Myrtle Whitley "Mutt" Cashion, 87, of 503 William Street, Kannapolis, died Wednesday, December 24, 2003, at the home of a niece, Neva Jo Roberts.
Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 27, 2003 at First Presbyterian Church. Dr. Joseph R. Crawford will officiate. Interment will follow at Carolina Memorial Park. Members of the Pilot Club of Kannapolis will serve as honorary pallbearers.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Saturday at First Presbyterian Church. At other times they will be at the home of a niece, Neva Jo Roberts, 286 Beverly Drive, Concord.
Born March 23, 1916, in Cabarrus County, she was a daughter of the late William Allison Whitley and Emma Litaker Whitley. She retired several years ago as a secretary from Cannon Mills Company. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church where she served in almost every area of the church life, including president of the Adult Choir for many years and a faithful, long-time member of the Margaret Goodman Sunday School Class. Mrs. Cashion was also an active member of the Pilot Club of Kannapolis.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold A. Cashion, who died February 27, 1976.
Survivors include a sister, Edith Whitley Munday of Concord; four nieces, Neva Jo Roberts of Concord, Jane Munday Overcash and her husband, Keith, of Raleigh, Harriet Propst Clodfelter and her husband, Vernon, of Salisbury and Susan Boland Roberts and her husband, John, of Hilton Head, SC; one nephew, Mike Boland of Raleigh; a brother-in-law, Joe P. Roberts of Concord; an aunt, Ann Litaker Propst of Salisbury; special family, Harold and Audrey Mills of Concord, Sarah and Bernard Dayvault, Dot and Perry Steen, Nancy and Scott Barger, Matt Barger and Ali Barger, all of Kannapolis, Nell Mills Phillips of Treasure Island, Florida, Johnny Cashion of Kannapolis, Sue and Tom Angel of Port Lucie, Florida; and a Godchild, Janet Ward Black of Greensboro.
