Nancy Nelms Kapoor's Obituary
Mrs. Nancy Nelms Kapoor, 66, of Greenville, SC and formerly of Kannapolis and Durham, NC, fell asleep to be with the Lord Monday, February 11, 2008, at St. Francis Hospital-Downtown in Greenville, SC.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 pm Wednesday, February 13, 2008, at Lady's Funeral Home Chapel. Dr. Tom Cabaniss will officiate. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park in Kannapolis.
The family will receive friends from 1 to 2:00 pm Wednesday at Lady's Funeral Home. There will be a Memorial Service at Duke Chapel at Duke University at a later date.
Mrs. Kapoor was born February 27, 1941 in Cabarrus County. She was the daughter of Dorothy "Dot" Dean Lumsden and the late William Alexander Nelms. Nancy earned her nursing degree and nurse anesthetist certificate at Watts Hospital School of Nursing in Durham, NC. For over thirty years, she served Duke University Medical Center, eventually becoming Chief Nurse Anesthetist. Nancy was very active in state and national anesthesia organizations.
In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Shankar Nath Kapoor and her brother, William Harold "Buddy" Nelms.
Mrs. Kapoor, in addition to her mother, is survived by her son, Kristopher Nath Kapoor, and his wife, Katherine Chulkas Kapoor; grandson, Kristopher Kapoor; granddaughter, Marguerite Faye Kapoor; sister-in-law, Faye Ervin Nelms; niece, Jennifer Nelms Cubitt and her husband, James Edward Cubitt; nephew, William Anderson Nelms; and many other loving family members and friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the charity of the donor's choice.
