Naomi Snipes' Obituary
Mrs. Naomi Gibson Snipes, 98, entered into eternal peace Tuesday, June 17, 2014, at Carolinas Medical Center-NorthEast.
A service to honor her life is scheduled for 3:00 pm Thursday, June 19, 2014, at Memorial Baptist Church. Rev. Tim E. McQueen and Rev. Don Davis will officiate. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 am Friday at Cross Roads Baptist Church Cemetery in Ruby, SC.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8:00 pm Wednesday, July 18, 2014, at Lady’s Funeral Home.
Mrs. Snipes was born on February 3, 1916, in Chesterfield, SC. She was the daughter of the late Jule Bart Gibson and Eutha Christine Smith Gibson. After 45 years with Cannon Mills, Mrs. Snipes returned to work at K & W Cafeteria for thirteen years, retiring for the second time at age 92. She returned to K & W Cafeteria in 2011 as a greeter. She was recently recognized as the oldest living member of Memorial Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Edward Snipes, Sr., on January 22, 1991; and step-mother, Ida Tucker Gibson.
She leaves her loving memories to be cherished by her niece, Linda Gibson Hildreth and husband Ralph of Charlotte; great niece, English Perry Griggs and husband Mitch of Davidson; great nephew, William “Bill” Perry of Chesterfield, SC; three great grand nephews, Camden Griggs, Collin Griggs and Landon Perry; two step-children, Susan Snipes Bolick of Maiden and Charles “Chuck” Snipes of Kannapolis; and two step-grandchildren, Katie O’Donohue and Jason Bolick, II.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Memorial Baptist Church, 1785 Dale Earnhardt Blvd., Kannapolis, NC 28083 or Princeton’s Meow, 29 Brookwood Avenue, NE, Concord, NC 28025.
