Nezzie Mcmanus Allen's Obituary
Mrs. Nezzie McManus Allen, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and great-great grandmother passed away, Thursday, January 4, 2007, at NorthEast Medical Center after 97 years of loving her family and friends. Her love has surrounded, enfolded, and embraced us all. We, your family, give you thanks for your kind and generous spirit, and we honor your legacy of love.
Funeral services are scheduled for 3:30 pm Sunday, January 7, 2007, at Centerview Baptist Church. Rev. Willie Rash will officiate. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 2 to 3:30 pm Sunday at the church. At other times, the family will be at the home of Mrs. Allen at 605 Walter Street.
Mrs. Allen was born May 27, 1909 in Chesterfield County, SC. She was a daughter of the late James Alexander McManus and Mary Rollins McManus. She retired from the Washcloth Dept. in Cannon Mills where she was a inspector. She was a member of Centerview Baptist Church for over 50 years.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, David Preston Allen, on January 3, 1975.
Mrs. Allen is survived by two daughters, Ramona A. Woods, and husband, Clement, of Kannapolis and Voncille A. Randolph, and husband, Lynn, of Wilmington; five grandchildren, Tony Dale Randolph and wife, Donna, of Waxhaw, Kim Renae Randolph Evans and husband, Bill, of Wilmington, Timothy Lynn Randolph of Kannapolis, Mona Woods Eudy and husband, Raymond, of Kannapolis, and David Michael Woods and wife, Becca, of Kannapolis; six great grandchildren, William Lynn Evans of Wilmington, David Arthur Evans and wife, Ciara, of Wilmington, Stephen Alexander Evans of Wilmington, Andrew Preston Randolph of Waxhaw, Carley Anne Randolph of Waxhaw, and Marc Allen Woods of Kannapolis; three great-great grandchildren, Lindsay Brae Woods of Kannapolis, Ty Allen Woods of Kannapolis, and Samuel Elijah Evans of Wilmington; one sister, Rettie Price of Lancaster, SC; nephew, Harold McManus; and many other nephews, nieces and cousins.
The family has requested that memorials be sent to Centerview Baptist Church, 415 Walter Street, Kannapolis, NC 28083.
