Pauline Wood James' Obituary
Mrs. Pauline Wood Armstrong James, 91, of Kannapolis, died Wednesday, March 15, 2006, at her residence.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, March 18, 2006, at Lady's Funeral Home Chapel. Dr. Tom Cabaniss will officiate. Interment will follow at Carolina Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from noon to 1:15 p.m. Saturday at Lady's Funeral Home. At other times they will be at the residence and their respective homes.
Born October 4, 1914, in Rowan County, she was the daughter of the late Pink C. Wood and Leoma Pinkston Wood. She graduated from Boyden High School and later moved to Kannapolis in 1936. She was a member of First Baptist Church. She retired in 1976 after working 40 years in Cannon Mills sewing room.
Pauline enjoyed reading geology, history, biographies and novels. She wrote numerous articles for the Salisbury Post and the Senior Savvy paper. She also enjoyed writing poetry.
She was preceded in death by three husbands, J. H. Sharpe, Clarence Armstrong and Rupert James.
Survivors include her daughter, Shirley Sharpe Hartis and husband, Thomas, of Kannapolis; two sons, Rodney Armstrong of Robbinsville, NJ, and David Armstrong and wife, Brenda, of Concord; a brother, Pink Calvin Wood and wife, Julia, of Graham, TX; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
