Phyllis Louise Hardy Grimes' Obituary
Phyllis Louise Hardy Grimes, passed away in her sleep at home on Tuesday, November 30, 2021 in Kannapolis, NC. She was born February 24, 1954 to Warren G. Hardy and Katie Gauldin Anthony in Concord. Phyllis lived her entire life in Rowan County.
Phyllis served as a Supervisor in Plant 1, Mill 1, 6 & 7 Slasher Room at Cannon Mills for 32 years before their closing at which time she took a supervisory position with American Fiber & Finish in Albemarle. Phyllis continued to work through diagnosis and treatment of Breast Cancer until 2008 when it metastasized to her brain requiring she take disability to begin her long battle with cancer. Phyllis was the epitome of strength and courage outliving her prognosis by 15 years. She enjoyed riding Harleys, going to concerts, a well-made margarita, cooking Sunday dinner, visiting her kin in Virginia and most of all she loved her family and friends and enjoyed spending time with them.
Survivors include her husband of 51 years, Ronnie Grimes of Kannapolis; her son, Christopher Grimes of Kannapolis; her son, Brian (Darcy) Grimes of China Grove; sister, Bobbie Hardy (Tim) Maloney of Winston Salem; 2 grandsons, Chase and Anthony; half-sister, Carolyn Anthony Duplisea of Kannapolis; and a slew of cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her grandparents and her in-laws.
Visitation will be held beginning at 12:00 pm until 12:45 pm at Lady’s Funeral Home on Saturday, December 4, 2021 with service beginning at 1:00 pm in Lady's Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park. Friends and family are welcome to pay respects afterwards at the home she and Ronnie shared.
