Rachel Mae Bayne's Obituary
Mrs. Rachel Mae Stegall Bayne, 95, passed away Sunday, December 27, 2015, at Big Elm Nursing Center in Kannapolis.
A funeral service is scheduled for 12:00 pm, Thursday, December 31, 2015 at Lady’s Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Phil Goble will officiate. Interment will follow at Carolina Memorial Park in Kannapolis.
The family will receive friends from 11:00 to 11:45 am at Lady’s Funeral Home.
Mrs. Bayne was born February 2, 1920 in Union County, NC. She was the daughter of the late Arthur James Stegall and Lillie Mae Strawn Stegall. She worked at Cannon Mills for 26 years and Landis Elementary School in food service for 18 years. She was a life-long member of Blackwelder Park Baptist Church, where she was active until her health declined. Rachel also enjoyed spending time with family and friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Neely William Bayne; infant brother, Arthur James, Jr.; two half-brothers, Hiram Stegall, and Arthur Craig “A.C.” Stegall; infant sister, Dora Stegall; and two half-sisters, Carolyn Stegall Williams, and Sarah Stegall Laney.
Mrs. Bayne is survived by son, Mark Bayne of Matthews; half-brother, Walter Brock Stegall; half-sister, Nell Stegall of Monroe; sister-in-law, Mary Bayne of Charlotte; several nieces and nephews; and her special care taker, Sandy Kiker.
