Raford Ray Childress' Obituary
Mr. Raford “Ray” Childress, Sr., 67, passed away Sunday, September 21, 2014, at CMC-NorthEast in Concord.
A funeral service is scheduled for 10:00 am Thursday, September 25, 2014, at Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Bishop Robert Morgann, MD will officiate. Interment with military honors will be at 12:00 pm Thursday at the Salisbury National Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8:00 pm Wednesday at Lady's Funeral Home.
Mr. Childress was born November 11, 1946 in Mt. Airy, NC. He was a son of the late Okla Homer Childress and Glennie Martin Morse. He was a veteran of the U.S. Marines and was a retired NC State Trooper. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and a former member of the Shriners and Masons.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Brenda Morse and brother, Michael John Morse.
Mr. Childress is survived by his wife, Shirley Bowlin Childress; two daughters, North Childress and Michael Childress Love and husband Shane; four sons, Ray Childress, Jr. and wife Miranda, Jesse Childress, Simon Childress and Darby Childress; sister, Esther Morse; three grandchildren, Blake Childress, Morgan Childress and Colton Love.
