To Barbara and Rick's family,
Words are never enough at a time like this but I want to share the common experience for me, Rick and others that high school in Turkey had for us. Rick and I did three years together in what was a very small, very personal school with an extracurricular life that was an extension of school. Because of our common experience of living in a foreign land, we all have an incredibly strong bond. For those of us lucky enough to see each other again many, many years later, the years just melted away and we were all back in the halcyon days of high school. I'm grateful I got a chance to see Rick after we were all grown up. "Deep peace of the quiet earth to you, deep peace to you." Judy
Barbara and family;
No words that I can say are adequate to beguile you from your grief. President Lincoln said that in a letter to the mother of sons lost in the civil war. I have always thought them to be the truest words at a time like this.
The Pastor was right. Rick's suffering is over. If heaven is different for different folks, I imagine Rick in a deep green forest with a lake nearby. To keep him busy, there are little angels for him to teach the names of the constellations and how to recognize trees by the shape of their leaves.
I am proud to have been Rick's friend and happy to know you all. May you gain peace from your loss in time.
Barbra, I am very sorry for your loss. Risk will be greatly missed. He was a great role model and mentor in the scouting community. Not only to the boys he taught, but also to the men he taught to teach boys.
Barbara, I was very sorry to hear Rick passed away and want to send you my heartfelt condolences.
I will always remember Rick from our high school days in Ankara, Turkey in the 1960s, and I'm so glad I got to meet you so many years later when Rick brought you to one of our reunions.
love to you and the family,
Anita
Barb and Family,
Its hard to understand why those we love are taken from us. Please remember that we are here for you and we are keeping you in our prayers and thoughts.
Love,
Jarrett & Marlene
