Robert Lee Childers' Obituary
Mr. Robert Lee Childers, 87, passed away Friday, April 17, 2015, at Big Elm Nursing Center in Kannapolis.
A funeral service is scheduled for 2:00 pm Monday, April 20, 2015, at Lady's Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Steve Leigh and Rev. Robert D. Howard will officiate. Interment will follow at West Lawn Memorial Park in China Grove.
The family will receive friends from 12 to 2:00 pm Monday at Lady's Funeral Home prior to the service.
Mr. Childers was born May 30, 1927 in Taylorsville. He was a son of the late Lester Paul Childers and Fannie Victoria Wike Childers. He worked for Cannon Mills in the bleachery department for 48 years before working at Crowder’s Garage. He was an Atlanta Braves baseball fan and a big Dale Earnhardt, Sr. fan. He also loved the beach and fishing.
Mr. Childers is survived by his wife, Betty S. Childers of Kannapolis; daughter, Judy Voyles of China Grove; son Robert L. Childers, Jr. and wife Juanita of Kannapolis; daughter, Brenda Stribling and husband Lane of Kannapolis; 11 grandchildren, Deana Honeycutt and husband Rodney, Chris Stribling, Susan Hamlett and husband Ralph, Bryan Childers and wife Tanya, Jeff Stribling and wife Jennifer, Robin Smith and husband Rodney, Joseph Voyles and wife Angela, Penny Manus and husband Jason, Angela Carillo and husband Daniel, Amy Griffin and Matthew Stribling; and 22 great grandchildren.
Memorials may be sent to Lakewood Baptist Church, 806 Kluttz Sreet, Kannapolis, NC 28081.
