Robert Lewis Edmiston's Obituary
Mr. Robert Lewis "Bob" Edmiston, Sr., 86, passed away Sunday, October 25, 2015, at Carolinas Healthcare System - NorthEast in Concord.
A funeral service is scheduled for 2:00 pm Thursday, October 29, 2015, at Mt. Mitchell United Methodist Church. Rev. Neil Jones will officiate. The body will lie in-state at the church from 1:30 pm - 2:00 pm. Interment will follow at Mt. Mitchell United Methodist Church Cemetery in Kannapolis.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm Wednesday at Lady's Funeral Home.
Mr. Edmiston was born June 30, 1929 in Cabarrus County, NC. He was the son of the late Flake Conner Edmiston and Mary Kathleen Chambers Edmiston. He previously worked as an electrician for Fiber Industries in Salisbury, and retired from Philip Morris. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served during Korea. He was a member of Mt. Mitchell United Methodist Church where he served as a former Sunday School Teacher. Bob enjoyed tinkering with older cars. He enjoyed NASCAR racing, hunting, and fishing. Bob always helped others when they were in need.
Mr. Edmiston is survived by his wife, Ruth Edmiston; two sons, David Edmiston, and wife, Terry, of Charlotte, Robert “Rocky” Edmiston, and wife, Pattie, of Kannapolis; four grandchildren, Travis Edmiston, Leslie Roscoe, Whitney Edmiston, and Haley Edmiston; six great-grandchildren, Justin Hurst, Victoria Edmiston, Jaclyn Edmiston, Ashley Edmiston, Alisha Edmiston, and Violet Edmiston.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mt. Mitchell United Methodist Church, 6001 Old Salisbury-Concord Road, Kannapolis, NC 28083.
