Ruby Mae Taylor Beaver's Obituary
Mrs. Ruby Mae Taylor Beaver, 97, passed away Sunday, September 25, 2011, at Transitional Health Services in Kannapolis, but was able to stay at her home until the last three weeks of her life.
A Celebration of Life is scheduled for 2:00 pm Saturday, October 8, 2011, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Landis. Rev. Jarrod Lanning will officiate. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2:00 pm Saturday prior to the service in the Family Life Center.
Mrs. Beaver was born August 14, 1914 in Rowan County. She was a daughter of the late John Lee Taylor and Dora Bostian Taylor. She retired from the offices of Linn Corriher Mills and prior to that she was a buyer and Children's Dept. Manager at Belk's in Cannon Village in Kannapolis. Ruby was a lifelong and active member of Trinity Lutheran Church where she previously served as a Sunday school teacher, sang in the choir, was a Girl Scout Leader and was a member of the Women's Circle. She was also a member of the Landis American Legion Women's Auxiliary and was a board member of the Kan-La-Con Concert Group.
Ruby, along with two of her siblings, were sent to a Lutheran orphanage in Salem, VA following the death of her father during the Great Influenza Pandemic.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Karl "Tack" Beaver; two sisters, Mary Lee Smith and Geneva Dayvault and five brothers, Clay Taylor, Clifford Taylor, Frank Taylor, Houston Taylor and Wade Taylor.
Mrs. Beaver is survived by her son, Eric Beaver and wife, Debbie of Landis; three grandchildren, Catherine Wood, Taylor Beaver and Karlyn Beaver; and one great grandson, Keethen Wood.
