Ruby Watts Furr's Obituary
Mrs. Ruby Watts Furr, 87, passed away Saturday, August 13, 2011, at Tucker Hospice House in Kannapolis following two and an half years of declining health.
A funeral service is scheduled for 2:00 pm Tuesday, August 16, 2011, at Faith Baptist Church. Rev. James Pauley and Rev. Morris Tyree will officiate. The body will lie in-state in the church from 1:30 � 2:00p.m. Tuesday prior to the service. Interment will follow at Carolina Memorial Park in Kannapolis.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm Monday at Lady's Funeral Home. At other times, the family will be at the home of her daughter, Patricia McManus, 1215 Highway 153 China Grove, NC.
Mrs. Furr was born March 1, 1924 in Taylorsville, NC. She was the daughter of the late Charlie W. Watts and Judy Brookshire Watts. She retired from Cannon Mills Co, having worked for 23 years in the weave room at plants #1 and #4 as a weaver. She has been a member of Faith Baptist Church for over 60 years. She was also a very active member of the Silverliners and other Cabarrus County senior activities.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by husband, Harry Fleming in 1967, a daughter Barbara Baucomb and two sisters, Lucille Phillips and Edna Hatch.
Mrs. Furr is survived by her husband of 15 years William V. "Bill" Furr, a daughter, Patricia McManus and husband Harold of China Grove; two sons, Richard Fleming and wife Penny of Concord and Denny Keaton of Kannapolis, and one brother, Lester Watts of Concord, six step-children, Rhoda Seabolt, Roger and Rick McFarlin, Regina French and David and Donald Furr, five grandchildren, Tim and Jonathan McManus, Anita Safrit, Scott Keaton and Jimmy Linn and eight great-grandchildren.
