Sarah Geneva Gainey's Obituary
Sarah Geneva Dixon Gainey, 88, a resident of Five Oaks Manor, Concord, and formerly of S. East Avenue, Kannapolis, went home to be with her Lord, Jesus, Wednesday morning, April 8, 2009.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, April 10, 2009, at Faith Freewill Baptist Church. The Rev. James Pauley will officiate. The body will be placed in the church 30 minutes prior to the service. Interment will be at 3:30 p.m. Friday at Wilkes Chapel United Methodist Church in Hartsville, SC, where the body will be placed in the church 30 minutes prior to the interment.
The body will be taken from Lady's Funeral Home to the home of a daughter, Cathy Beaver, 245 Upright Avenue, China Grove, where the family will receive friends from 3 to 8 p.m. Thursday.
Born April 19, 1920 in Chesterfield, SC, she was the daughter of the late Burrell Dixon and Emma Frances Dixon. She was a homemaker and formerly worked for Cannon Mills. Mrs. Gainey was a member of Faith Freewill Baptist Church.
Mrs. Gainey was preceded in death by her husband, Woodrow Wilson Gainey, Sr.; and four sons, Woodrow W. Gainey, Jr., Clarence Gainey, Joseph Burrell "J.B." Gainey, and Larry Gainey.
Survivors include three daughters, Frances Juanita Gainey of Kannapolis, Cathy Marie Beaver and husband, Douglas, of China Grove, and Sandra "Sandy" Doster and husband, Billy of Kannapolis; two sons, Carroll Gainey of Lamar, SC, Dennis Gainey and wife, Leeann, of Mt. Pleasant; one sister, Edelle Melton of Cheraw; 13 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
