Scott Jeffrey Saffell's Obituary
Mr. Scott Jeffrey Saffell, 40, formerly of Concord, passed away Thursday, October 6, 2011, at Maricopa Integrated Medical Hospital in Phoenix due to a motorcycle accident.
A funeral service is scheduled for11:00 am Saturday, October 15, 2011, at Westford United Methodist Church in Concord. Rev. Jeffrey Rushing will officiate. Interment will follow at Carolina Memorial Park in Harrisburg.
Serving as pallbearers will be the following: Trevor and Jerry Seiter, Chris Newlove, Todd and Butch Arthur and Mike Collins.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8:00 pm Friday at Lady's Funeral Home.
Mr. Saffell was born December 1, 1970 in Marion, OH. He was a son of Barbara Seiter Saffell and the late James Eugene Saffell.
Scott moved to Concord in 1984 and was a graduate of Central Cabarrus High School, Class of 1989. He served in the Air Force from 1998 to 2002. He graduated from Eastern University of New Mexico in May 2005.
Scott graduated from Southeastern New Mexico Law Enforcement Academy in December 2004, serving as the class speaker at graduation. He was a police officer in Roosevelt County, New Mexico, Lake Havasu City, AZ, and for the past 3½ years was an officer at Tempe Police Department in Tempe, AZ.
Scott was kind, considerate, respected by his fellow officers and loved by many. He was a very active person. Scott enjoyed hiking with his two dogs, running, riding bikes, motorcycles and boating just to name a few of his passions. He loved and adored his two nieces more than they could possibly know. Even though he was not able to be with his family on a regular basis, they enjoyed the absolute best of times.
Scott was also a book of knowledge always learning something new. To say the least, Scott will be greatly missed by his family, friends and fellow officers.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by grandfathers, Charles R. Saffell and Donald E. Seiter.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by brother, Brent Saffell and wife, Tiffani of Concord; nieces, Faith and Camden Saffell; grandmothers, Betty Jane Saffell and Esther F. Seiter.
