Selma Lee Pethel's Obituary
Mrs. Selma Lee Cody Pethel, 88, passed away Monday, December 30, 2013, at First Assembly Living Center in Concord.
A graveside service is scheduled for 1:30 pm Wednesday, January 1, 2013, at Carolina Memorial Park. Rev. Darryl C. Evans will officiate.
The family will receive friends from 12 to 1:00 pm Wednesday at Lady’s Funeral Home.
Mrs. Pethel was born July 11, 1925 in Cabarrus County. She was the daughter of the late John Z. Cody and Hattie DeMarcus Cody. A lifelong resident of Kannapolis and member of First Presbyterian Church, she retired from the sample department of Fieldcrest-Cannon in 1987.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Franklin Pethel, in 2005 and her infant daughter, Crystal Lee Chambers.
Mrs. Pethel is survived by her son, Steve Chambers and wife Peggy of Concord; two granddaughters, Sherri Christy and husband, Nathan, and Misty Little and husband, Clint; four great grandchildren, Hunter and Holly Christy and London and Lawson Little, all of Mt. Pleasant; brother, Alfred Ray “Sonny” Cody and wife Carolyn of Kannapolis; two nieces, and three great nephews.
The family would like to express their appreciation to First Assembly Assisted Living Center, especially the 2nd floor nursing staff for the excellent care they provided, as well as Hospice and Palliative Care of Cabarrus County.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Cabarrus County, 5003 Hospice Lane, Kannapolis, NC 28081.
