Shirley Jean Overcash Griffin's Obituary
Mrs. Shirley Jean Overcash Griffin, 80, passed away Tuesday, August 8, 2017, at Tucker Hospice House in Kannapolis.
A funeral service is scheduled for 12:00 pm Friday, August 11, 2017, at Franklin Heights Baptist Church. Rev. Joe Smith will officiate. Interment will follow at Carolina Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 10:30 to 11:45 am Friday at Franklin Heights Baptist Church.
Mrs. Griffin was born April 30, 1937 in Rowan County. She was a daughter of the late Preston Eugene Overcash and Eula Pauline Rowell Strider. She retired from Cannon Mills where she worked in the Cutdown Department. She was a member of Franklin Heights Baptist Church where she was heavily involved prior to her declining health.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Carl Griffin; and two brothers, Charles Overcash and James Merrit.
Mrs. Griffin is survived by two daughters, Becky Jean Broome, with whom she lived with for the last five years, and husband Michael of Kannapolis and Cindy Carlene Dillard and husband Gerald of Landis; three sisters, Billie Freeman of Lexington, Dena Ridenhour of Albemarle and Vickie Beaver of South Carolina; three grandchildren, Travis Wade Shaver, Jason David Dillard and wife Legina and Shawn Griffin Dillard; and one great grandson, Lawson David Dillard.
