Shirley Lee Yates' Obituary
Ms. Shirley Lee Coggins Yates, 77, went to be with her heavenly father Sunday, July 7, 2013 at CMC-NorthEast.
A funeral service will be held at 7:00 pm, Thursday, July 11, 2013, at Center Grove Lutheran Church. Pastor Lloyd Ginn and Rev. Curtis Parker will officiate. Interment will be at 11:00 am Friday, July 12, 2013, at Center Grove Lutheran Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 6:45 pm Thursday, July 11, 2013, prior to the service at the church.
Ms. Yates was born on June 6, 1936 in Cabarrus County. She was a daughter of the late Ready "Railroad" Roscoe Coggins and Alma Freeze Coggins. She graduated from A.L. Brown High School, class of 1955. She retired from Cannon Mills where she worked as a key punch operator. Ms. Yates was an active and faithful member of Center Grove Lutheran Church. She was a loving mother, mother-in-law and grandmother to her family. Her grandchildren were the light of her life.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Bill Coggins and Jim Coggins.
Ms. Yates is survived by daughter, Deborah "Debbie" Yates of Landis; son, Joel Yates and wife Debbie of Salisbury; four grandchildren, Stacy Buckley and husband Fred of CA, Caitlin Goodnight of Charlotte, Matt and Cameron Yates of Salisbury.
Memorials may be made to Center Grove Lutheran Church, Scout Troop #93, 1601 South Cannon Blvd., Kannapolis, NC 28083.
