Thomas Brice Beam's Obituary
Mr. Thomas Brice Beam, 89, of Kannapolis, died Monday, March 29, 2010, at Avante at Concord.
A celebration of his life will be conducted at 3 p.m. Wednesday, March 31, 2010 at Centerview Baptist Church. The Rev. Willie Rash will officiate. Interment with military honors will follow at Carolina Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at the church. At other times, they will be at the home.
Born January 30, 1921 in Lowell, he was the son of the late Osborne Frye Beam and Jennie Adcock Beam. He retired in 1983 following 37 years of employment from Cannon Mills, where he was the payroll master. Mr. Beam was a US Army Air Force veteran of World War II. He was a member of Centerview Baptist Church for 56 years, where he served as a deacon, Sunday School teacher and superintendent. He enjoyed working with the young boys in the R.A.'s. While his children were in school, Mr. Beam was involved in many PTA organizations. His interests included gardening, fishing, and in later years, sitting on his front porch swing watching the world go by.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Suzanne Beam Griffin.
Survivors include his wife, Arlene Hare Beam of the home; a daughter, Linda Beam McLane and husband Don of Ninety Six, SC; two sons, Ronnie Earl Beam of China Grove and Thomas Merle Beam of Danville, VA; a sister, Barbara Bentley and husband Ted of Concord; one brother, Ralph Beam of Knoxville, TN; five grandchildren, Chris McLane and wife Amanda, Angela Cogburn and husband John, Edwin Griffin, Ashley Martin and husband Derek and Caroline Griffin; and 15 great-grandchildren.
