Val Edwards' Obituary
Curtis Val Edwards, 86, of Kannapolis, passed away Tuesday, May 14, 2024, at Caremoor Retirement of Cabarrus County.
He was born August 30, 1937 to the late C.R. Edwards and Callie Spencer Edwards of Kannapolis. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Carol Marion and her son, Ricky Fox.
Val worked in Cannon Mills for 45 years, but he was also a Navy Veteran, an amazing cook, a self-taught artist and an accomplished whittler. And his greatest joy in life came from fishing and going to the beach where he met his soulmate, Judy Harris, 61 years ago.
There was nothing...repeat NOTHING!...that made him happier than spending the day on his boat with Judy and their young'uns.
Val is survived by his wife, Judy Harris Edwards of Kannapolis; two daughters, Sentrie Buie (Darren) of Shallotte, and Valerie Edwards Pethel of Kannapolis; one son, Vic Edwards of Mint Hill Senior Living; three grandchildren, Hayley Thompson (Kyle) of Greenville, SC, Xan Moose and Anthony Moose of Kannapolis; one great-grandchild, Indiana Thompson of Greenville, SC; two bonus daughters, Gwen Honeycutt Wise of Kannapolis and Mikki Measmer Ayers of Huntersville; and his 85-year-old "baby sister" Arlene Edwards Thompson of Advance.
He loved that whole crowd and never ended a conversation without telling them so.
The family will receive friends from 4 to 5:00 pm Tuesday, May 21, 2024 at Lady's Funeral Home.
