Vinnie Polk Shinn's Obituary
Vinnie Polk Shinn, 81, of 1401 Oakwood Avenue, Kannapolis, went to be with the Lord, Sunday, April 3, 2005, at her home, following a long, courageous battle with cancer.
A graveside service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 6, 2005, at Oakwood Cemetery in Concord. Chaplain John Sell will officiate.
The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday at Lady's Funeral Home. At other times they will be at the home of her son, George Alfred Shinn II, 1401 Oakwood Avenue, Kannapolis.
Born July 8, 1923 in Cabarrus County, she was the daughter of the late Cleveland Polk and Bertha Hartsell Polk. She formerly worked for Montgomery Ward and was the retired owner and operator of Vinnie's Image Makers. She was a member of First Assembly Worship Center in Concord.
She was preceded in death by her husband, George Alfred Shinn.
Survivors include a daughter, Tamera S. Smith and husband, Smitty, of Concord; a son, George Alfred Shinn II of the home; a granddaughter, Tonya L. Gatlin and husband, Bart, and a great-granddaughter, Ashley, of Austin, Texas; a grandson, W. Shawn Bullard and wife, Jennifer, great-granddaughter, Alexus, great-grandson, David, and two step-grandsons, Craige and Josh of Kannapolis; and a sister, Ivalee Allen of Concord.
