Walter Junior Elder's Obituary
Mr. Walter Junior Elder, 89, passed away Sunday, November 8, 2015, at Tucker Hospice House in Kannapolis.
A funeral service is scheduled for 1:00 pm Thursday, November 12, 2015, at Lady's Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Eric Blankenship and Rev. Kevin Morris will officiate. Interment will follow at West Lawn Memorial Park in China Grove with military honors by the Rowan Veterans Honor Guard.
The family will receive friends from 12:00 pm - 12:45 pm Thursday at Lady's Funeral Home.
Mr. Elder was born June 1, 1926 in Taylorsville, NC. He was a son of the late Earl Lee Elder and Virgie Belle Deal Elder. He worked for Allen Shoe Masonry as a brick mason. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. Junior was of the Baptist Faith and was a member at North Kannapolis Baptist Church. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, and spending time outdoors. Junior loved spending time with his entire family.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Cecil Walker Elder; second wife, Marcella “Marcie” Deal Elder; three brothers, Clifford Elder, Clyde Elder and Perry Elder; and two sisters, Cecil Deal and Ruby McGuire.
Mr. Elder is survived by two daughters, Gail Beaver and husband George of China Grove, and Sandy Carter and husband Jimmie of China Grove; step-chidren, Ron McGinnis and wife Jenny of China Grove, Jim McGinnis and wife Darlene of Kannapolis, Gary McGinnis and wife Vickie of China Grove, and Kay Lewis of Kannapolis; sister, Betty Wensil of China Grove; four grandchildren, Robin Morris, Gina Rigsby, Candie Blankenship and Stephen Carter; and numerous step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice & Palliative Care of Cabarrus County, 5003 Hospice Lane, Kannapolis, NC 28081.
