Walter Edsel Pennell's Obituary
Mr. Walter Edsel Pennell, 79, passed away Sunday, April 10, 2016, at The Laurels of Salisbury.
A funeral service is scheduled for 3:00 pm Wednesday, April 13, 2016, at West Corinth Baptist Church. Rev. Robert Suttles will officiate. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 1 to 2:45 pm Wednesday at West Corinth Baptist Church.
Mr. Pennell was born March 21, 1937 in Cabarrus County. He was a son of the late Robert Chadsy Pennell and Daphne White Pennell. He worked for Atlantic Petroleum in Salisbury and was a veteran of the NC Army National Guard. He was an active member of West Corinth Baptist Church where his time and talents included Sunday School Director and Teacher, Deacon, Trustee, Usher and Finance Secretary.
Mr. Pennell is survived by his wife, Phyllis Hollar Pennell; three daughters, Jeanna P. Gregory (Sam) of Salisbury, Kathy P. Hardwick (Scott) of Mooresville and Teresa P. Rumsey (Timothy) of Fort Mill, SC; sister, Freida Mae Goodnight of Butner, NC; brother, Kenneth Robin Pennell of Columbia, MS; four grandchildren, Dustyn Swartz, Krista Swartz, Tara Rumsey and Taylor Ramsey; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be sent to West Corinth Baptist Church Building Fund, 120 Corinth Church Road, Mooresville, NC 28115.
