Wayburn "Nannie" Murphy Austin's Obituary
Mrs. Wayburn "Nannie" Murphy Austin 93, passed away Tuesday, March 6, 2018, at her home in Kannapolis.
A funeral service is scheduled for 1:00 pm Saturday, March 10, 2018, at Calvary Baptist Church. Dr. R.J. Hammond, Rev. Mike Murphy and Rev. Rick Murphy will officiate. Interment will follow at West Lawn Memorial Park in China Grove.
The family will receive friends from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm Friday at Calvary Baptist Church. She will also lie in-state 30 minutes prior to the service on Saturday.
Mrs. Austin was born April 4, 1924 in Taylorsville, NC. She was a daughter of the late James William Murphy and Jeannette White Murphy. She retired from Cannon Mills where she worked in the spinning room. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church where she was a faithful servant of the Lord. She was a Prayer Warrior that many called when prayer was needed! Nannie lead a Christian life and often shared her testimony.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ray C. Austin; a sister, Kiter M. Meeks; three brothers, George Haynes Murphy, Deb Murphy and Nikard Bruce Murphy; a granddaughter, Paula Wise; and son-in-law, Paul Wise.
Mrs. Austin is survived by four children, Barbara Wise, Phillip Austin and wife Brenna, Steve Austin and wife Tracey, all of Kannapolis and Michael Austin and wife Kathy of China Grove; sister, Texie Marie Napier of Keysville, VA; nine grandchildren, Brooke and husband Chris, Whitney, Andrew, Morgan, Jason and wife Brittney, Benji and wife Christi, Matthew and wife Britt, Angela and husband Ronnie and Elizabeth; and 12 great grandchildren.
