William "Bill" Marshall Barnette Jr.'s Obituary
Mr. William "Bill" Marshall Barnette, Jr., 83, passed away Thursday, July 24, 2025, at Tucker Hospice House in Kannapolis.
A funeral service is scheduled for 1:00 pm Saturday, August 9, 2025, at Westford Methodist Church. Rev. Jeffrey Rushing will officiate. Interment will follow at Hopewell Presbyterian Church Cemetery in Huntersville with honors conducted by the Charlotte Mecklenburg Police Department.
The family will receive friends at the church beginning at 12:30 pm.
Bill was born October 13, 1941 in Charlotte. He was a son of the late William Marshall Barnette, Sr. and Lilly Newman Baker Barnette. He retired from the Charlotte Mecklenburg Police Department after 20 years of service. Following his retirement, he was a truck driver in Alabama and later was a bus driver for CKRider (Concord Kannapolis Area Transit). He was an active member of Westford Methodist Church in Concord. He loved tending to his rose garden, which he was proud of.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Charles Barnette and Joe Barnette.
Bill is survived by his wife, Christina Angelos Barnette; three children, Jennifer Steelman (Bryan) of Conover, Anthony "Tony" Barnette (Pam) of Conover and Tammy "Darlene" Williams (Jimmy) of Marshville; four step-sons, Michael Thompson of Crown Point, IN, Timothy Thompson of Marietta, GA, Mark Thompson and David Thompson, both of Atlanta, GA; sister, Martha Stroup of Charlotte; brother, David Barnette; five grandchildren; and two great grandchildren.
