William "Bill" Lonel Moody's Obituary
Mr. William "Bill" Lonel Moody, 74, passed away Friday, July 13, 2018, at the Brian Center of Cabarrus.
A funeral service is scheduled for 2:00 pm Thursday, July 19, 2018, at Parkwood Baptist Church. Dr. Johnny Presley and Rev. Bo Sherrill will officiate. Interment with military honors will follow at Carolina Memorial Park in Kannapolis.
The family will receive friends from 1 to 1:45 pm Thursday at Parkwood Baptist Church.
Mr. Moody was born July 20, 1943 in Robbinsville, NC. He was a son of the late Garrette Bernard Moody and Effie Lee Pierce Moody. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and was a member of Parkwood Baptist Church. Bill worked in commercial construction having worked for J.A. Jones Construction Company in Charlotte and retiring from LaFave's Construction Company in Landis. Bill had a wonderful sense of humor and quick wit. He was a positive, can-do person. Bill demonstrated thru the living of his life, an absolute unconditional love. In addition to his family, Bill’s passion was serving the Lord through mission work, teaching Sunday School, serving as a Deacon, working with the youth and many other activities at his church.
In addition to his parents, Bill is preceded in death by his wife, Margaret "Penny" Miller Moody.
Bill is survived by his daughter, Tiffany Moody Yelton and husband Ken of Concord; son, Derek Moody of Concord; four sisters, Polly Morris of Concord, Garri Liford of Granbury, TX, Marilyn Altland of Asheville and Carol Kinney of Chuluota, FL; three brothers, Edwin Moody of Andrews, NC, Morris Moody of Robbinsville, NC and James "Jimmy" Moody of Crestview, FL; and six grandchildren, Bradley Yelton, Jennifer Yelton, Heather Yelton, Justin Moody, Kaitlyn Moody and Neil Moody, along with numerous nieces and nephews, extended family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Parkwood Baptist Church, 1069 Central Drive NW, Concord, NC 28027. Bill and his late wife Penny loved Parkwood. The church and its members have been a tremendous support and blessing to them.
