William Gregory's Obituary
William M. "Bill" Gregory, 85, of Gregory Road, Kannapolis, died Sunday, January 4, 2009 at CMC-Northeast.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Lady's Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Steve Beam and the Rev. Jesse Garmon will officiate. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m. Wednesday prior to the service.
Bill was born in Union County, SC, on May 31, 1923, a son of the late James Gregory and Mantie Davis Gregory. A supervisor at Cannon Mill Co., he retired after 40 years employment. Among his greatest enjoyments was traveling and fishing.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Etta Lewis Gregory in January 1992; and a brother, Thomas O. Gregory.
Mr. Gregory is survived by a son, Jim Gregory and wife Kristi, of Charlotte; three daughters, Brenda Spry and husband Melvin of Rockwell, Gina Oxendine and husband Clayton of Rockwell, and Jill Simpson and husband Frank of Kannapolis; seven grandchildren, Kathy Earnhardt and husband Donnie, Kelly Hill and husband Michael, Michele McDaniel and husband David, Marie Baucom, Tripp Gregory, Chip Oxendine, and Christy Anthony and husband Mike; six great grandchildren, Jessica Parker, Brianna Earnhardt, Kourtney Rodwell, Macie Rodwell, Chayse Anthony and Alexis Anthony. He is also survived by a brother, Ralph Gregory of Kannapolis; and a very special companion, Ellie Hamby.
