William Hurst's Obituary
William "Bill" Hurst, of Kannapolis, went to be with his Lord, Friday, April 21, 2006, at NorthEast Medical Center. Death was unexpected.
Funeral services will be conducted at 3 p.m. Sunday, April 23, 2006, at Lane Street Baptist Church. Dr. Greg Pierce will officiate. Interment will follow at Carolina Memorial Park. The body will be taken to the church 30 minutes prior to the service.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday at Lady's Funeral Home.
Born in Chesterfield County, SC, he was the son of the late Edgar T. Hurst and Katherine Burr Hurst. He retired from Cannon Mills where he was a machinist and formerly worked for Western Electric. He was a member of Lane Street Baptist Church. Mr. Hurst was a Marine Corps veteran of World War II.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Ison, Perry, J. T. and John Hurst; and two sisters, Idell Johns and Peggy Elderman.
Survivors include his wife, Doris Clark Hurst; three daughters, Billie Galloway and husband, Norman, and Penny Houser and husband, Melvin, both of Kannapolis, and Candy Smith and husband, John, of Concord; five grandchildren, Amber, Todd and Brian Widenhouse, and Dustin and Cody Smith, all of Concord; a sister, Elese Davis of Kannapolis; one brother, Calvin Hurst of Kannapolis; and a special sister-in-law, Tommie Campbell and husband, Don, of Concord.
