William F. Shumake's Obituary
Mr. William F. Bill" Shumake, 64, of 1006 Alabama Street, Kannapolis, died Friday, December 24, 2004, at NorthEast Medical Center, following a sudden illness.
Funeral services will be conducted 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, December 29, 2004, at Lady's Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Curtis Davis will officiate. Interment will follow at the VA National Cemetery in Salisbury.
The family will receive friends from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Tuesday at Lady's Funeral Home. At other times they will be at the residence.
Born March 26, 1940, in Darlington, SC, he was the son of the late Hallie Belton Shumake and Viola Purvis Shumake. He was a US Army veteran of the Korean Conflict and formerly worked at Cannon Mills Plant One. He was a member of the National Rife Association and enjoyed training horses.
He is survived by a daughter, Tina Michelle Shumake of Kannapolis; a sister, Joann Shumake Johnson and her husband, David, of Kannapolis; two step-children, John Steven Cooper of Kannapolis and Jeff Scott Cooper of Concord; and four grandchildren, Meagan Brittney Shumake, Jeremy Ray Dixon, Avery Leigh Cooper and Julian Scott Cooper. Additional survivors include two daughters, Cheryl Slawson of China Grove and Lori Epple of Charlotte; a son, Dereck Shumake of Raleigh; and six grandchildren.
