Zelma Cox Belk's Obituary
Zelma Cox Belk, 95, of 1201 Rogers Lake Road, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, July 9, 2009, at CMC-Northeast.
She was born November 11, 1913 in Cabarrus County to the late Homer W. and Oma Johnson Cox.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband of 56 years, William R. Belk and sister Rosa Jane Cox.
Zelma was a 1931 graduate of J. W. Cannon High School and worked in the Sheet Department of Cannon Mills and later for Terry Products until her retirement.
She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, where in her younger years was active in the Exodus Sunday School Class. She was a member of the United Methodist Women and the Rubye Duncan Circle.
The funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 15, 2009, at Trinity United Methodist Church, Kannapolis, officiated by Rev. Judy White.
Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park, Concord. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 14, 2009, at Lady's Funeral Home, Kannapolis.
Survivors include daughter, Gail B. Puntch and husband Les of Kannapolis, son, Bob R. Belk and wife Sarah of Charlotte, and three granddaughters, Robin P. Rainbolt and husband Ricky of Charlotte, Mary B. Kolster and husband Richard of Virginia, and Laura Belk of Charlotte.
Zelma will be missed by her loving family and special neighbors Margaret Taylor, Melvin and Linda Rape, Nancy and Ron Lunsford, and Mel, Myra and Luke Thompson.
