Betty Jean Barbee Patterson's Obituary
On the morning of February 1, 2017, heaven gained one of the most beautiful souls the world has ever known. Betty, 87, was surrounded by an incredible amount of love as she received her wings to soar.
A funeral service is scheduled for 12:30 pm Saturday, February 4, 2017, at Lady's Funeral Home Chapel. Dr. Steve Ayers will officiate. Interment will follow at Carolina Memorial Park in Kannapolis.
The family will receive friends from 11 to 12:15 pm Saturday at Lady's Funeral Home.
Betty was born July 10, 1929 in Concord. She was the daughter of the late Melvin Theodore Barbee and Gracie Rummage Barbee. She graduated from Concord High School, attended Wingate College and spent many years in the business world, working for Central Motor Lines, Akers Motor Lines and then found her work family at S&D Coffee from which she retired.
Betty was a lifetime member of McGill Baptist Church in Concord. She loved the coast and the majesty of all God’s creation. There was nothing Betty enjoyed more than being outdoors.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Franklin “Frankie” Patterson in 1999.
Those left to cherish her legacy include her daughters, Leisa Patterson Wall of Concord, Amy Patterson Parker and husband Tim of Kannapolis; granddaughter, Macayla Wall of Raleigh. Also loving family as well as her 3 “kitty kittys”.
Betty was a devoted mother and grandmother. She was truly a force of love to all family and friends.
The family would like to express our gratitude and appreciation to Sue Rigot for all of her love and compassion, Pauline Parker for always being there and Bett Smith for such a lasting friendship. Also, to wonderful friends and neighbors who have loved her along the way. The sincere devotion and care of Hospice in the last month has been a blessing.
The family wishes that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Cabarrus County, 5003 Hospice Lane, Kannapolis, NC 28081, Cabarrus Spay & Neuter Clinic, 413 Church Street North, Concord, NC 28025 or to McGill Baptist Church Building Fund, 5300 Poplar Tent Road, Concord, NC 28027.
