There are no words to express what he meant to me and my entire family! After losing my Dad at the age of seventeen, I had never filled that void.. Charlie entered our lives 14 years ago, never attempting to fill any other's shoes. As time passed, my respect and love for this man intensified. He just became family....it was natural.... as if he had been there always. I keep saying what a gentle spirit he had, and I only wish I could model his gentleness and genuine caring spirit. Charlie fit like a glove in our family. He adored my mother, and was her constant companion. He took my daughter, her husband and my stepchildren as his own, not missing graduations, special events, holidays, and just fun events. He fell totally head over hills for the grandboys, and became a powerful influence and example in their young lives. They affectionately called him Paw Paw Doodlebug, and will never stop missing him. Our lives were blessed to know and love Charlie.
Charlie also had a deep love for his church, Providence, and the congregation just simply connected with him. His witness, and character will remain in that church. Many events will not be the same without him.
Thank you Allen, Lisa, Buddy, and rest of the family for sharing this man with us. Please feel our prayers as you deal with the loss, and know we will always love you all.
Although this is long, it is so soothing to share how I felt about a man that I wish I could have told......Losing you suddenly has broken our hearts, and the hearts of many.
Help us Charlie, to follow your example by choosing love over anger, forgiveness over grudges, and respect for others. After all you followed the teachings of Jesus... as you told me many times.
Love you always.... I am sure there is a new Jesus (witness cap) that you are wearing...

Charlie & I were life long friends; I mean life long because our mothers were in the same room in the hospital when we were born. We continued to be close friends ever since birth. I will truly miss you Charlie! Bill Earnhardt
