Just one memory? I have so many that I’ll cherish for eternity. However, what about your gal named Sal, you singing Johnny Cash songs to me, letting me steer the car from the passenger side seat, pulling us around in the trailer by the lawnmower, beach trips, making homemade ice cream, seeing your precious smile when you held Maverick for the first time (I have a picture of that, by the way) what about you scratching my back (because we all know you gave the best), and just talking to me about any and everything you could, I was fine with that. Anytime I needed an ear to rant to you were there for me no matter how you felt. I know as getting older you felt as though you were losing your dignity and independence, but I hope as you rest high on that mountain you realize you were never a burden to me, and I loved taking care of you. Just as you did my entire life. The favor was returned, and now I’m going to be lost without you. You will always be my best friend, and I’ll be looking for you in everything I do now. I love you so much, papaw and always will.
