Doris Hough Correll's Obituary
On January 30, 2024, Doris Hough Correll, 91, of Concord, was able to hear the words she lived to hear, "well done my good and faithful servant," as she was welcomed into the arms of her Savior.
A funeral service is scheduled for 12:00 pm Saturday, February 3, 2024, at Flow Harris Presbyterian Church. Rev. Dr. Michael Whitson will officiate. Interment will follow at Carolina Memorial Park in Kannapolis.
The family will receive friends from 11 to 11:45 am Saturday at Flow Harris Presbyterian Church.
Mrs. Correll was born June 1, 1932 in Concord, a daughter of the late Henry Washington Hough and Julia Lucille Morris Hough. She was a member of Flow Harris Presbyterian Church. Doris enjoyed crossword puzzles, jigsaw puzzles, and solitaire. She and her family played musical instruments and Doris played the mandolin.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by husband, Charles Benjamin Correll, Sr.; two sisters, Helen Ballard, Hazel Pinnix; brother, Charles Henry Hough; and a good friend of many years, Mack Greene.
Doris touched the hearts of many with her kindness, warmth, and unwavering love for her family. She was a dedicated mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and great-great grandmother always putting the needs of her loved ones first.
Mrs. Correll is survived by two daughters, Shirley Helms (Larry) and Shelia Varnadore (Tommy); son, Charles Correll, Jr. (Wanda); eight grandchildren, Steven Helms (Laura), Mark Starnes, Timisha Whitley, Jennifer Dean (Brian), Benjy Correll (Susan), Amanda Phillips (Bobby), Jonathan Starnes, Kelly Mitchell (Todd); 13 great grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.
In addition to her family, Doris was a friend to many, always ready with a smile and a helping hand. She will be remembered for her generosity and the countless lives she touched throughout her life's journey.
As a family, it felt like a November 16th stroke robbed them of precious time with Doris, but it could never take away their memories of her. As it was said by her children: "We are sad because of your passing, but we find comfort in knowing that you are no longer in pain nor suffering. We are thankful for the life you gave us. You may be gone, but you will never be forgotten. Rest in peace, we love you, and we will see you again."
Memorials may be sent to Flow Harris Presbyterian Church, 308 Winecoff School Road, Concord, NC 28027.
