Elva W. Adkins' Obituary
Mr. Elva Wessley "Bill" Adkins, 70, of Landis, died Wednesday, July 29, 2009 at Carolinas Medical Center-NorthEast.
A memorial service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday, August 1, 2009 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Landis. The Rev. Jarrod Lanning will officiate. Entombment will follow in the church columbarium.
The family will receive friends in the fellowship hall following the service.
Born June 1, 1939 in Edmond, West Virginia, he was the son of the late Whorley M. Adkins and Clara Dorsey Adkins. He was employed by Duke Power as a welder. He was also a truck driver. He was a veteran of the US Marine Corps. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. Bill had a great love of music, including old country classics. He enjoyed singing and playing the guitar.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Phil Adkins, who died in 2001.
Survivors include his wife, Nancy Roberts Adkins; two sons, David M. Adkins of the home, Darren T. Adkins and wife Robin of Troutman; three sisters, Karen Foit of Leesburg, FL, Sis Adkins and Phyllis Adkins; a brother, Emil Adkins of Berkley Springs, WV; half-brother, Darrell Bragg of Landis; daughter-in-law, Ellen Kesler of Salisbury; and four grandchildren, Maria Adkins, Mandy Adkins, Justin Adkins and Wesley Adkins.
