Eugene Franklin DeMarcus, Jr.'s Obituary
Eugene Franklin "E. F." DeMarcus, Jr., 85, of 1104 Pump Station Road, Kannapolis, died Sunday, August 3, 2008, at home with his family.
Services will be conducted at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, August 5, 2008, at Lady's Funeral Home Chapel. Dr. Joseph R. Crawford will officiate. A graveside service will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, August 6, 2008, at Kannapolis Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 5:30 until 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Born March 31, 1923 in Cabarrus County, he was a son of the late Eugene Forrest DeMarcus and Lomie Shinn DeMarcus. He was retired and formerly worked at the Gem Theater and as a route salesman for Bitsy Bakery. He was a veteran of the US Army. A graduate of J. W. Cannon High School, he was also a member of First Presbyterian Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Thelma Scarborough DeMarcus; a sister, Pearl DeMarcus Justice; and two brothers, Lewis and Earl DeMarcus.
Survivors include three daughters, Judy D. Petrea and Amy D. Paterson of Kannapolis and Lynn D. Pagano of St. Augustine, FL; three sons, Gene DeMarcus of Brentwood, TN, David Bruce DeMarcus of Front Royal, VA, and Brian DeMarcus of Anchorage, AK; 13 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to First Presbyterian Church, 201 Vance Street, Kannapolis, NC 28081 or Hospice and Palliative Care of Cabarrus County, 5003 Hospice Lane, Kannapolis, NC 28081.
