Eugene Mcinnis Propst's Obituary
Mr. Eugene McInnis Propst, 87, of 2403 Brantley Road, Kannapolis, NC died Sunday, September 1, 2002, at his residence.
Funeral services will be conducted 3:00 PM Wednesday, September 4, 2002, at Center Grove Lutheran Church. Rev. Zachariah Harris, III will officiate. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park with Graveside Rites conducted by the DAV, Chapter 27, of Concord.
The family will receive friends at Lady's Funeral Home from 7 to 9:00 PM Tuesday. At other times, the family will be at his residence.
Mr. Propst was born in Kannapolis on September 26, 1914, a son of the late Andrew Jackson Propst and Elizabeth Eddleman Propst. He served in the U.S. Army with the 32nd Division, Battery "C" 120th Field Artillery Battalion during World War II. From April 1942 until September 1944 he served in Australia and New Guinea in the Asiatic-Pacific Campaign. After returning home from service he began work as an Automotive Body Mechanic and later operated Propst Paint & Body Shop. He retired from the carpenter shop of Fieldcrest Cannon in 1982. A lifelong member of Center Grove Lutheran Church, he served on the Church Council as well as the Music & Worship committee and the Property committee. He was active in all programs of the church.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by three brothers, Joe, Harry and Charles Propst; seven sisters, Ruth Cline, Blanche Cline, Anna Tarleton, Margaret Riddle, Beulah Propst, Naomi Propst and Mary Propst.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Louise Upright Propst, and a daughter, Patsy Black McFalls and her husband, Charles Michael McFalls; also surviving are three grandchildren, Keith Black, Jennifer McFalls Stone and Shawn McFalls and a great grandchild, Luke Stone.
